There wasn't anything inherently wrong with 'The Drifter' Elias Samson as a name, but the fully-formed tunesmith he became in place of the travelling brawler in NXT suited the single-name treatment as part of the cleaned-up presentation.

"Walk With Elias" has since become a safety-net crowdpleaser too. Before then, fans had a habit of drifting away in his presence.
