Ranking Every TLC Match In WWE History - From Worst To Best
9. CM Punk Vs. The Miz Vs. Alberto Del Rio (TLC 2011)
So far in this list, much of the conversation has revolved around big spots and the more extreme moments. In the Triple Threat main event from TLC 2011 though, we have a match that sticks in the mind more for its subtleties than anything else.
First, CM Punk—the champion heading into the match—was slyly handcuffed to a ladder by Alberto Del Rio’s personal announcer Ricardo Rodriguez. Punk would manage to get out of trouble by busting up the ladder and breaking free, but then shortly after he found himself bound again, this time handcuffed to the middle turnbuckle.
It was then a race against time as the champ struggled to unscrew the turnbuckle and prevent both Del Rio and the Miz helping themselves to his belt, adding a huge dose of drama without having to resort to throwing anyone off a ladder or through a table.
That, plus the pace of the action that the three-man dynamic provided, made this one of the more refreshing TLC matches of recent years.
