Ranking EVERY WWE Champion From Worst To Best
19. Edge
Edge made the WWE Championship an entertaining obsession before he finally cashed in the first ever Money In The Bank contract on John Cena in 2006, and followed that up by becoming known as an 'Ultimate Opportunist' in the aftermath.
His first reign drew too - Raw's ratings spiked as audiences earnestly felt as though somebody had broke through to the main event picture for the first time since John Cena ascended one year prior. As the pair traded the title throughout the summer, 'The Rated-R Superstar' character took shape and helped Cena re-establish a babyface bond with the audience that looked lost forever just months earlier.
In the years that followed, Edge became known more for his runs with the World Heavyweight crown rather than fighting over WWE's original and best, but he was a scene-stealing sports entertainer that built a legacy as somebody always in title contention or conversation, no matter who he worked with. Without cutting his hair, switching to trunks or adhering to any other of the wacky and needless Vince McMahon rules du jour, Edge unexpectedly but unsuprisingly smashed the glass ceiling by simply being the funniest snd most obnoxious version of himself.
