1. Gunther - WWE Intercontinental Championship

One cannot envy whoever has to step into Gunther's shoes when he's finally done with the Intercontinental championship and, presumably, moved on to the main event scene.

No, a long reign doesn't necessarily equal a great reign, but Gunther's record-setting time with the workhorse title has been about a lot more than just length. It's been about endlessly entertaining dominance from June 2022 to the present day.

In fact, admittedly by virtue of coming into the year with it, Gunther has defended the Intercontinental title more than any champion in the company has done with their own prize.

Gunther matches are guaranteed card highlights and often only prove to enhance the respectability of the company's mid-card (see: Chad Gable). More than this, rarely has a heel champion been presented as such an impressive specimen, putting in decisive wins time after time.

Not bad for a guy whose first appearance on main roster WWE programming saw him being immediately buried at Survivor Series 2019. As Gunther speeds along to WrestleMania, claiming not just the longest reign in IC title history but a chance at the most combined days with the belt too, fans are a far cry from worrying about his future.

The future is full of chest slaps and brutal lariats.
