A red hot crowd carried this beyond the usual TV Rumble experience, with most of the doubles roster gradually finding a sense of purpose as they were wont to do with Vince Russo holding the pencil.

The disparity between stars and rank-and-file - and thus, the result - was regrettably never in doubt, but it at least made contenders Kane and Mankind fight for the right to get a shot that was so obviuously already theirs.
