Royal Rumble Decade

If there's one lesson that WWE failed to learn from the Royal Rumble just one year prior, it's that you should never mess with Pennsylvania.

A year removed from 2014's event and WWE had a new star in their sights: Roman Reigns. It was very clear that the company was not likely to give up on Reigns, which only made the WWE Universe reject him even more. Throughout 2014, it became obvious that Vince McMahon had taken a liking to 'The Big Dog' and saw him as the new face of the company. The only issue was that the WWE Universe did not agree.

2015's edition of the annual 30-man brawl saw Roman Reigns ascend to the top of the card after eliminating both Kane and Big Show at the same time, earning a shot at Brock Lesnar's WWE World Heavyweight Championship. However, the fans in attendance were left with a sour taste in their mouths from the moment that Daniel Bryan was mercilessly thrown over the top rope after a mere ten minutes. In a bout that saw the return of Diamond Dallas Page, the rise of Damien Mizdow and another fantastic Kofi Kingston escape spot, the finish was certainly a dampener on the night.

The saving grace of this event was the stellar triple threat competition between Brock Lesnar, John Cena and Seth Rollins. The three men put on an outstanding match and showed excellent chemistry, with the outcome seeming less predictable as the night wore on.

This Royal Rumble pay-per-view earns itself a place just above its predecessor due to that triple threat, as well as encouraging performances from Rusev and Kofi Kingston during the main event.
