Ranking Every WWE Smackdown General Manager - From Worst To Best
6. Kurt Angle
By 2004, Kurt Angle's neck was in bad shape. He was able to have a great match with Eddie Guerrero at WrestleMania XX, but after that, he needed time off from competition. With a worked leg injury after The Big Show chokeslammed him off a ledge, Angle was confined to a wheelchair. When SmackDown GM Paul Heyman "quit" the company after being drafted to Raw in the 2004 Brand Lottery, Angle was deemed the new GM.
Even in a world where heel authority figures are the norm, Angle was particularly megalomania-cal. He made it his personal mission to get the WWE Championship off Eddie Guerrero, and he succeeded at the 2004 Great American Bash. As shocked fans looked on, Angle declared JBL the victor of a controversial bullrope match for the title.
Weeks later, Guerrero and JBL had a rematch on SmackDown, but interference from the masked 'El Gran Luchadore' helped Bradshaw retain. After the match, Guerrero unmasked the mystery man as Angle, proving that the Olympic Gold Medalist was no longer paralyzed. The next week on SmackDown, Vince McMahon fired Angle from his GM role.
