The. Greatest. Rumble. Match. Ever.

The 1992 Royal Rumble is the go-to Rumble of choice for so many when it comes to revisiting those January PPVs of the past.

In terms of star power, the '92 over-the-top-rope extravaganza had Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, The Undertaker, Sid Justice, Roddy Piper, Ted DiBiase, Davey Boy Smith, Kerry Von Erich, Jake Roberts, Shawn Michaels, Colonel Mustafa, Sgt. Slaughter, Tito Santana and Jimmy Snuka - all names who had been, or would later be, main event players.

This was storytelling gold, with Flair starting at #3 and lasting an hour on his way to victory, claiming the vacant WWF Title as a result. Along the way, though, the Nature Boy had to battle the ghosts of his past with the likes of Piper, Von Erich and Jim Duggan, while many more were all out to dump the narcissistic Naitch on his ass.

With genuine uncertainty over who would emerge victorious, numerous impressive stints from those involved, and Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon absolutely killing it on commentary, this is a 30-man contest that never fails to bring a smile to the face.

Of course, this Rumble win was followed by a brilliant backstage celebration as WWF President Jack Tunney handed over the WWF Championship to Flair, who then proceeded to cut his famed "With a tear in my eye..." promo, before Mr. Perfect and The Brain lavished praise on their buddy.

Another fun fact where that promo is concerned, is 'Mean' Gene Okerlund genuinely had to tell a crew member to put out their cigarette while all of this is taking place.
