Ranking Every WWE Title Match At Royal Rumbles Worst To Best

29. Royal Rumble 1996 - Bret Hart Vs. The Undertaker

For your scribe, it's always painful to throw shade at a Bret Hart match. Even more so when said match also happens to include The Undertaker; an opponent with whom Hart would have several classics over the years.

The pair's meeting at the 1996 Royal Rumble was such a disappointment, with the bout simply going way, way too long. Hart had long proved he could do wonders with lengthy contests, and 'Taker would later likewise deliver some brilliant longer matches, but here it just didn't work.

After nearly 30 minutes, the end result was the Phenom getting a DQ win after Diesel attacked Earl Hebner - resulting in the Hitman retaining his WWF Title.

For a far better bout between these two legends of the business, be sure to check out their One Night Only match in 1997 or even their SummerSlam '97 contest. Then there's the excellent titular main event of In Hour House: Final Four, which pitted Hart, Undertaker, Vader and Steve Austin up against each other in a four-way elimination offering for the vacant WWF Title.
