25. Royal Rumble 1997 - Sycho Sid Vs. Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots, but even the Heartbreak Kid struggled to get anything out of Sycho Sid at Royal Rumble 1997.

There, Michaels was the hometown Texas hero going up against the bigger, stronger, nastier heel WWF Champion in Sid.

To be fair to HBK, anything involving Sid usually stunk. Throw in Michaels reportedly having the flu at this point in time, and this was never going to be an all-timer. It was average at best, with Shawn good but clearly a little off at times... and Sid being, well, Sid.

Of course, Michaels would get the win via Sweet Chin Music in a hugely predictable outcome which the Alamodome crowd ate up.

While he lost the company's top prize at the Royal Rumble, Sid would manage to take the WWF Title from Bret Hart - who won that then-vacated belt at In Your House: Final Four - less than a month later. Despite this kayfabe success, the former Sid Justice would only have two further PPV matches with WWE before departing the promotion that summer.
