Ranking Tommaso Ciampa's 10 Greatest NXT Matches

Showcasing the true versatility of the man, here we have the jacked and savage Ciampa play an incredibly convincing and relatable underdog. That’s a little easier to do when your opponent is WALTER, of course, but it’s impressive for a man as frightening as Tommaso to be this sympathetic.

One of the best matches of 2021’s WrestleMania weekend, Ciampa threw absolutely everything he had at WALTER, laying in his best offence and even coming close to the win, especially after a second rope Air Raid Crash. WALTER’s hand was damaged early on, neutralising his greatest weapon, that monstrous chop.

The Austrian absorbed all of Ciampa’s arsenal, though, and retaliated with plenty of his own. Ciampa was suplexed, powerbombed, and slapped around the ring, though he kept coming back. One great sequence saw Ciampa repeatedly clothesline WALTER to no avail, then get knocked to the floor by one lariat, only to fly back to his feet and send the big man sprawling with one more attempt.

The match builds to a terrific, Chekovian crescendo, with WALTER finally throwing caution to the wind and busting out a terrifying chop to fell Ciampa for good. These are two men who seldom disappoint, and they met every expectation here.
