Ranking Triple H's 19 WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best

12. Triple H Vs. Owen Hart (WrestleMania XIV)

Owen Hart sought retribution for the way that his brother Bret was treated on his way out of WWE, making his match with Triple H at WrestleMania XIV about so much more than the European Championship. It was an intense, emotionally fueled match between the Black Hart of the company and one of its leading degenerates. Interest in the match was intensified by the presence of Chyna at ringside, who would be handcuffed to Sgt. Slaughter in hopes of preventing her interference in the contest. That did not go so well. Triple H and Hart wrestled a very solid, technically sound wrestling match that kept fans in Boston invested throughout. At a time that the product was much edgier than it ever had been before, the two ring generals worked a bout that may have been traditional, but their issues were so compelling the audience did not turn their backs on it. Instead, they followed the emotional roller coaster that the performers took them on, then came even more alive when Chyna threw powder in the eyes of Slaughter, hopped on the ring apron and delivered a low blow to Hart that destroyed any chances he had of regaining the title. Triple H, in his first WrestleMania match as a burgeoning main event star, proved he could perform up to the moment and was rewarded the following night on Raw with the start of the biggest push of his career.
