With Vince McMahon alienated (for now, at least), Hulk Hogan's mega-money deal with WCW ensured that wrestling as an entity couldn't move on without its biggest ever star.

Under McMahon's umbrella, Hogan had stuttered getting a television and film career off the ground. The move South was ostensibly set to help him do both, though it went a long way in legitimising the North American number two as far more than just WWE's sh*ttier alternative.
