The formation of the New World Order served as the culmination of everything Eric Bischoff had attempted to achieve since gaining power in WCW three years earlier.

Combining original box office signing Hulk Hogan with recent headline grabbers Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and utilising elements of an invasion storyline from Japan he'd taken inspiration from, this brought together much of what he'd visualised when first getting competitively aggressive with Vince McMahon years earlier.
