Ranking WWE Extreme Rules PPVs From Least To Most Extreme
2. 2014

Ah yes, 2014. Daniel Bryan was the Heavyweight Champion of the World, the Shield were absolutely tearing apart any and all comers, and Wade Barrett was still delivering us bad news.
As upsetting as it is that much of that has since changed, it doesnt take away from the fact that the Extreme Rules PPV from that year was a very solid showing. And most importantly (in this context) it featured a number of moments that lived up to its extreme billing.
The aforementioned Bryan won an awesome Extreme Rules match versus Kane, which featured his epic diving head-butt from the forklift truck, a classic backstage brawl and of course a rare flaming table spot. And while the Shields victory over Evolution technically wasnt no DQ, that didnt stop things spilling over into the crowd where Seth Rollins delivered a flying cross-body from way up in the stands.
Oh, and who could forget the WeeLC kick-off showa match with a ridiculous number of table spots that frankly had no right to be as entertaining as it was.
The curveball finish to Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena still rankles a little. Dont get me wrong, I love a good lights-out momentbut when the lights come back and theres a possessed choirboy singing into an official WWE-branded microphone, thats where youve lost me.
Still, given those other moments we saw throughout the evening I think its fair to overlook that this time out.
