WWE wrestlers believe CM Punk's attendance at last night's Raw was a "publicity stunt" ahead of his impending AEW return, reports Fightful Select.

As reported previously, Punk was at the show in Rosemont, Illinois before Vince McMahon made the call to eject him from the building. Punk met with Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, amongst others, before departing.

Fightful said that Punk was also seen conversing with Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Tamina, and The Miz. Levesque was surprised by Punk's presence, but shook hands with him. When Punk asked WWE's Chief Content Officer if he could stick around, Triple H said he would have to ask if this would be okay.

When asked to leave, Punk left the building without incident.

Understandably, given that he is still contracted to the promotion, a number of AEW talents were "in disbelief when they heard [Punk] was backstage at Raw." WWE wrestlers were shocked that Punk got into the building, too.

Elsewhere, PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that The Miz and Punk had clear-the-air talks. The duo have had issues in the past, though they were able to speak for a short period at last night's Raw, seemingly burying the beef.
