Jey Uso missed Sunday's WWE Royal Rumble 2021 pay-per-view because he wasn't medically cleared to appear at the show.

This is the word of the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online's Dave Meltzer, though further details are scarce. There is currently no word on why Uso wasn't granted medical clearance or when he might return to WWE television.

Jey was initially set to wrestle in the men's Royal Rumble match and remained advertised for it on WWE.com up until Sunday, but didn't show up. His last appearance on WWE television was during the 15 January episode of SmackDown, where he was defeated by Shinsuke Nakamura, and he hasn't appearances since.

Fans may have expected Uso to interfere in Roman Reigns' Universal Championship match with Kevin Owens, given his heavy involvement in that storyline. 'The Head of the Table' ended up beating KO without assistance in their Last Man Standing bout.

Jey's brother, Jimmy, remains on the shelf, having suffered a severe knee injury at WrestleMania 36 last April. An absence of six-to-nine months was reported at the time, meaning Jimmy should be back imminently.
