Report: Cody Rhodes' WWE Talks Have "Fizzled Out"
Don't bet the house on Cody Rhodes going to WWE just yet...
Contract talks between Cody Rhodes and WWE have stalled, reports Bodyslam.net's Cassidy Haynes.
Rhodes has been heavily linked to the market leaders since last month, when he departed AEW after the two parties failed to come to terms on a new contract. WWE's interest in the former Stardust was reported upon immediately, but now, a few weeks later, Haynes has been told by a source that "those conversations have since fizzled out."
There is now a hope that Cody could be brought back to All Elite Wrestling, perhaps in a new role following Tony Khan's acquisition of Ring Of Honor.
At the moment, nothing is off the table - and the former AEW EVP remains a free agent.
An AEW cornerstone and vital figure in shaping the modern pro wrestling landscape, Rhodes had been working for Khan's company as a free agent since December 2021, when his previous contract expired. The reported reasons behind the February split range from creative to financial, with his loss in creative power following Khan's December 2019 restructuring seemingly critical as well.
Khan, the AEW president, announced his ROH purchase on this week's episode of Dynamite.
