Ric Flair becoming #AllElite appears to be a lock, reports Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The legend's non-compete status is currently unclear following his recent departure from WWE. Nonetheless, he is expected to end up with All Elite Wrestling once legally allowed to sign with another promotion - whenever that may be.

If it happens, this won't be a huge surprise. Flair is close friends with AEW owner and founder Tony Khan, who attended his wedding in 2018, with their relationship going back before the promotion had even started up. His daughter Charlotte's fiancée Andrade El Idolo also works for the promotion, along with former Four Horsemen stablemates Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson, though it is believed that Flair isn't particularly close with the latter anymore.

Flair had been with WWE for over eight years prior to his departure on 2 August. Reports on the nature of his release vary, with some stating he was fired after complaining about Charlotte's booking and others saying he asked to be let go.

Ric claimed the latter, saying that he and WWE disagreed on a vision for his future.
