Report: TKO "Don't Care" About WWE Champions (WWE News)

Dave Meltzer has reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer newsletter that top brass at TKO "do not care" about "small things like who is champion right now". Instead, those management figures would rather focus on the "big picture" of corporate business at board room level.

This will raise some eyebrows.

There are 2 ways of looking at things: Firstly, of course TKO execs want to manage overall business and leave the creative side of things to Triple H and the rest of the writing team. Conversely, TKO apparently did care about creative when they shoehorned Pat McAfee into the WWE Title feud between then-champ Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton heading into WrestleMania 42 earlier this year.

Meltzer also said that there were "mixed feelings" regarding putting the top belt back on Sami Zayn during the 11 September edition of SmackDown. CM Punk is clearly the bigger star from a marketing standpoint, but Zayn has been producing some of the best work of his career over the summer, and he's been glue holding the blue brand's TV show together.

Rewarding him with a second reign (one that's already running longer than the 9-day stretch he enjoyed first time around) was a shrewd move by Hunter. TKO didn't really have much of an opinion on it though, because they're not really too bothered by individual titles or who holds which piece of gold.

Summing it up, The Observer said this: "The upper management of TKO have no opinion positively or negatively regarding matters like this. Their focus is on WWE’s big-picture financial deals".
