The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Vince McMahon has been telling some backstage that WWE desperately needs to create new stars soon.

According to Dave Meltzer, McMahon feels a sense of urgency is necessary now that WrestleMania's buzz is firmly in the rearview mirror and because several major names are currently posted missing; top stars like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair are all on the bench for various reasons, and the ongoing global pandemic situation hasn't exactly helped WWE's roster.

Despite having literally hundreds of wrestlers under contract, McMahon apparently thinks there's a real lack of genuine star power in his midst. It's hard to argue against that, to be fair.

The likes of Reigns, Lesnar, Lynch and Flair have left sizeable gaps on Raw and SmackDown in particular, and they're holes that WWE are struggling to fill. The Observer's report didn't detail Vince's plan to solve this issue or how he will build fresh talent.

Creating stars is an ongoing issue in all major wrestling companies, so this is nothing new, but it is telling that McMahon is willing to admit that WWE need to build again for the second half of 2020.
