Here's how WWE pivoted ahead of RAW...

Another week, another story about WWE making swooping last-minute changes to the previous night's episode of RAW, with this one coming from Figure Four Online/the Wrestling Observer.

The Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler main event was flipped from a WWE Championship bout to non-title a few days ago. Per the report, WWE did this because they felt that Randy Orton cutting a promo declaring he was coming for McIntyre at SummerSlam 2020 would undermine the Ziggler bout if it was for the belt, as Orton would be approaching his promo as if Drew winning was guaranteed. The promotion didn't want to promote McIntyre's next title defense with another still on the table, so they pivoted.

Asuka was originally set to defend the RAW Women's Title against whoever took Kairi Sane out at SummerSlam. The purpose of that angle was to get to the pay-per-view with 'The Empress' as champion, though WWE decided to use Kairi's write-off as a chance to have her Kabuki Warriors partner drop the belt without getting pinned. Thus, Sasha Banks left with the strap.

Orton vs. McIntyre is now set for SummerSlam, though Asuka and Banks' next moves haven't been confirmed.
