WWE's production team is currently understaffed, with the crew described as being "extremely overworked" in a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

The "insane workload" demanded of WWE producers had led to an internal push for more to be recruited following WrestleMania 38 in April. This led to Ariya Daivari and Curtis Axel being brought in on a probationary basis, though a round of "budget cuts" means WWE is no longer using the duo, exacerbating the situation.

As well as the workload, the time WWE expects its producers to work had contributed to calls for more to be brought in.

Things would have been even tougher during last week's SmackDown tapings, as producer overseer Jason Jordan was absent from the show ahead of the birth of his second child. Adam Pearce is believed to have assumed a leading role in Jordan's absence.

Whether or not WWE plans on bringing more producers in to alleviate these apparent issues is currently unclear. Similarly, there is no word on if Axel and Daivari will be brought back in the future, having fallen victim to the promotion's latest round of cost-trimming measures.
