Revealed: Cancelled Plans For Jon Moxley's AEW World Title

AEW switched gears with post-Full Gear World Title plans...

Jon Moxley
AEW

Kenny Omega will be Jon Moxley's next challenger for the AEW World Championship. Last night's Dynamite saw the bout officially confirmed for the TNT show's 2 December episode, with Omega earning his shot by defeating Hangman Page to win the World Title Eliminator tournament at Full Gear 2020 last week.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Lance Archer was originally booked to be Mox's first post-PPV opponent. That event's Buy In pre-show saw Alex Abrahantes tease that Archer would face whoever won between Moxley and Eddie Kingston. Lance and Jake 'The Snake' Roberts then cut a promo on the PPV itself, keeping their title hunt alive.

Plans have changed, however, and there's no word on why.

Archer was totally absent from last night's Dynamite. It looks like he could be without a feud for some time, as his other target, Kingston, has now entered one with PAC.

Moxley has already defended the AEW World Championship against Archer once before. They met in a No Disqualification bout on the 14 October special Anniversary episode of Dynamite, with Moxley taking the victory after rolling Lance into a crucifix pin following Archer's Blackout finisher.
