As reported yesterday, The Miz is potentially staring down the barrel of a lengthy WWE absence after tearing his ACL at WrestleMania Backlash last week, where he wrestled Damian Priest.

Whether the former WWE Champion suffered a full or partial tear is currently unclear. A full tear could mean between six and nine months on the sidelines, or potentially longer if there are any complications.

Fightful Select have issued a new report on the backstage reaction to Miz's injury, noting that the wrestlers and staff members watching his match with Priest on the monitors knew something was wrong. They didn't think it could be something as severe as an ACL tear, but credited Miz for finishing the match, working to the planned finish despite the injury.

Miz vs. Priest lasted around seven minutes. Their lumberjack match saw the ring surrounded by zombies to promote Zack Snyder's new Army of the Dead movie, starring Dave Bautista, and concluded with the horde simulating eating Miz alive in the middle of the ring.

Having gone down with the first serious injury of his 18-year wrestling career, Miz missed the following night's episode of Raw.
