Rey Mysterio Hopes To Be Back In Time For Wrestlemania 28

Former three time World Champion says he is working hard to make it back in time for April 1st event.

Rey Mysterio, who has been out of action since August 15th with injuries, has told The Miami Herald in a new interview that he hopes to be back in time for Wrestlemania 28 on April 1st. Of course he is bound to say that as he is on duty promoting the mega event (tickets have gone on sale this week) but we are certain he has set himself the personal goal of returning for the event. Here's what he said in regards to a Wrestlemania 28 return;

"Especially after the injury that I had, I want to make sure to work hard throughout this therapy so I can go ahead and be back by then."
If Rey does make it in time for Wrestlemania, there's plenty of potential opponents for him. Usually when an injured wrestler comes back he more often than not battles the man who injured him in the first place and that would be Alberto Del Rio. We could definitely see a Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio match, especially as Del Rio will be inducting Mexican legend Mil Mascaras into the WWE Hall of Fame and there could be some kind of 'hero worship' storyline between them. Speaking of which Mysterio spoke of his fondness of Mascaras in the interview;
"I think he definitely brought something that was very unique to pro wrestling. You had seen masked wrestlers before but nothing like Mil Mascaras. Not only did he revolutionize the sport in the United States but also in Japan and in Mexico. You would never see that man wear the same outfit twice. His style in the ring, his presence, the designs on his masks, everything was so different every time. I believe he did revolution, to a certain degree, the sport in all three countries."
It is of course unlikely Del Rio will have the title by then so the mid-carder feud match is a huge possibility. Although I'm sure WWE have discussed a Sin Cara vs. Rey Mysterio match at length and we will see that somewhere down the road, perhaps at Mania. But for now, Mysterio's mind is just on getting himself fit again.
