Rey Mysterio Returning To WWE At The Greatest Royal Rumble

Will this be the start of a proper run on Raw or SmackDown?

PWInsider are reporting that Rey Mysterio will make an appearance at WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia on 27 April.

This will mark Rey's first showing for the company since his surprise comeback at the 'actual' Royal Rumble this past January. There, Mysterio entered as #27, lasted close to 10 minutes and eliminated Adam Cole before being ousted himself by Finn Bálor.

Before suffering a biceps injury on an independent show, Rey had been rumoured for a match against John Cena at WrestleMania 34, and he's still in talks with WWE about a full-time contract. On that, PWInsider say Mysterio would much prefer a part-time deal with select dates through until the end of the year.

It's unclear whether or not Rey will work another bout to go along with his 50-man Rumble appearance. WWE have stacked the card with big names (The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho and Triple H vs. John Cena are both matches that seemed implausible in 2018), and it'd be awesome to see Mysterio in a straight up singles match.

Once the Greatest Royal Rumble shindig is out of the way, it'll also be interesting to see if Rey lands on Raw or SmackDown.
