Rey Mysterio Would Put Mask On Line At WWE WrestleMania 36
Rey prepared to wager iconic mask against Andrade's hair.
Veteran WWE star Rey Mysterio has told TV Insider that he'd be prepared to put his iconic mask on the line against Andrade's hair, in a lucha de apuesta match at WrestleMania 36.
The former World Heavyweight champ explained:
"I think the goal right now — after [Monday's] outcome in the Andrade ladder match — I think something along the ways that if he wants to keep feuding and going a step further, I’m willing to put my mask on the line versus his hair for a WrestleMania moment."
As both lucha libre stars know, losing one's mask is the ultimate insult - and therefore, the ultimate gamble. Perhaps the stakes are a little less dramatic when you consider that Rey Mysterio - and Andrade, for that matter - have both previously lost their masks (Andrade used to compete under a hood as La Sombra in CMLL and NJPW).
Indeed, Mysterio incited outrage in Mexico by putting his back on, when he signed for WWE.
Nevertheless, he continued:
"Whatever the case might be, whoever ends up winning, I think it would be a huge stepping stone for either of us."
Even if the pathos of the stipulation is a bit contrived in 2020, a lengthy match at WrestleMania would promise to be an absolute riot. Let's hope it happens.
