Rey Mysterio's Retirement Set For WWE RAW Next Week

End of the road or a masked return to glory? You decide.

WWE announced on Monday's episode of Raw that Rey Mysterio will formally retire on next week's show.

The 'Retirement Ceremony' will be hosted by Seth Rollins, so it's unlikely to be legit. This is blatantly all part of the eye injury angle WWE ran previously involving both men, and it's likely to be Rey's, 'I can't walk away under these conditions' moment.

Yes, another one.

Some fans may recall that Mysterio teased retirement after beatings at the hands of Brock Lesnar last year (something a handful of fans on Twitter were quick to mention) before roaring back and challenging for the WWE Title at Survivor Series.

This retread is palatable though, if only because Seth ramming Rey's eye into the corner of the ring steps was so effective. Still, it's expected that Mysterio will shun the chance to walk away in favour of wrestling Rollins in some kind of 'No DQ' brawl at Backlash.

That'd make sense, and it would give the 14 June pay-per-view another marquee attraction to match Edge vs. Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley, Asuka vs. Nia Jax and erm...Braun Strowman vs. The Miz and John Morrison.
