Ring Of Honor Launch Streaming Service
'HonorClub' on-demand wrestling platform set to hit net.
Baltimore-based indy fed Ring of Honor have became the latest wrestling promotion to throw their hat into the ever-widening wrestling ring of online streaming services, thanks to the imminent launch of their 'HonorClub' VOD channel.
For a monthly cost of $9.99 (sound familiar?), HonorClub promises fans of the company complete access to ROH's television and historical show archive, live streams of all the group's On Tour events, as well as discounts for ticket pre-sales and online merchandise. Future PPVs are not included in the package, but standard subscribers can enjoy a 50% discount, whilst those who cough up a cool annual fee of $119.99 will get them thrown in to the bargain.
HonorClub is slated to supersede ROH's Ringside Membership programme, launching amidst stiff competition in the genre. The trail was first blazed by Sam Hamaoui's World Wrestling Network way back in 2001, but it was the advent of the WWE Network in 2014 which popularised the mode of distribution. Since then, GFW and NJPW have each developed their own VOD platforms, the latter hugely benefiting from - and in turn, increasing - recent western interest in the Japanese scene.
As a company which grew out of tape trading, a video on-demand service sees ROH come full circle. The company have yet to state a release date for HonorClub, but have promised its availability on a host of platforms including Android and iOS. Stay tuned for more.
