Something special is happening with WWE main roster newbie Trick Williams on SmackDown.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that Trick Williams could be turning babyface very soon. The former NXT man has been lighting up episodes of SmackDown since being promoted to WWE's main roster, and his entrances routinely play before booming "WHOOP THAT TRICK" chants from live crowds.

Backstage, top brass have been spotting a trend, and they're weighing up a change in presentation for Williams on TV. Currently, he's an arrogant heel who believes he should rocket to the WWE Title picture overnight. In promos, Trick has taken aim at everyone from Sami Zayn to Randy Orton.

No-one has been safe from his cutting words.

According to the write-up on Fightful Select, management did ponder introducing Williams as a face before he moved from NXT > SmackDown, but it was ultimately decided that going the heel route was best for business. Oh how quickly things can change - it's clear that WWE didn't expect Trick to connect with fans the way he has.

Interestingly, a few comments from viewers on this situation could tell the full story. One posted beneath Fightful's story to say WWE are about to "ruin" Williams completely by forcing things. They're obviously enjoying his current heel guise and don't see any reason to switch it up this early.

Trick made his in-ring debut with a win over Rey Fenix on the 9 January SmackDown over in Berlin, Germany. Since then, he's gone from strength to strength and is even involved in the lineup for this weekend's Elimination Chamber match to thrash out Drew McIntyre's WrestleMania 42 challenger.
