Rock 'N' Roll Legend Little Richard Dies Aged 87
The WrestleMania X show starter's cause of death is still unknown.
Legendary Rock 'n' Roll icon Little Richard has passed away at the age of 87, the musician's son Danny Penniman revealed to the Rolling Stone today.
Little Richard was among the first ever inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 1986 and his hits include songs such as Good Golly Miss Molly and Tutti Frutti.
He was known for his distinctly raspy voice and extravagant performances throughout his career and he claimed that he began singing because he wanted to stand out from his 11 siblings.
His legacy has been cemented as one of the most important figures in all of Rock 'n' Roll history and stars like Mick Jagger have often gushed over his ability to control an audience. Jagger once said, 'Little Richard drove the whole house into a complete frenzy,' before continuing, 'There is no single phrase to describe his hold on the audience.'
Richard also famously kicked off WrestleMania X with his own unique version of America the Beautiful in 1994 and his iteration of the song left the Madison Square Garden crowd simply stunned.
Stars like Elvis Presley called him the greatest and the likes of David Bowie and Elton John were all clearly inspired by his game-changing work.
Our thoughts and wishes are with his family at this time.
