The September 27, 1999 in-ring segment between The Rock and Mick Foley as Mankind was one of the most watched segments in the history of Raw. They were in the ring for 20 minutes as Foley brought out people from Rock's past to pay tribute to his friend The Great One. Foley brought out guests for the segments including a home economics teacher. Rock mentioned that he wanted to make pancakes in her class, but she never let him so he told her to check her ass into the Smackdown hotel. The crowd laughed for all of it as Rock incorporated his catchphrases in an entertaining way like usual. Then Rock's football coach came out, so Rock insulted him after telling a story about how coach made him run laps after a game. Rock went on to tell the coach that he wanted to shine up his whistle and shove it straight up his candy ass. A third guest named Joanne was his high school sweetheart as Foley thought this one would be a good idea. It was not. Rock told a story about how Joanne cut The Rock off on second base. Poor Rock. It was also the night where he dropped the "poontang pie" line and everybody chanted "Rocky" for that one. He told her to "poontang your ass on out of here" and off she went. There was also Yurple The Clown, who wasn't well received either. She even led the crowd in singing "happy birthday" to Rock even though he pointed out that Rock's birthday was May 2nd, not in September. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlY0g1KZsIs It was a 21 minute promo that received a 8.4 TV rating, which was the highest ever for anything on Raw. It was a testament to just how great The Rock was on the microphone along with Mick Foley.
