Roddy Piper Responds To Podcast Issues With Steve Austin
More fallout between the two Hall of Famers regarding their podcast dispute...
The ongoing beef between WWE legends "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin led to Piper no longer being involved with Podcast One. It was Austin who helped Piper land a gig with Podcast One in the first place, but now Piper has moved on. The reason for their issues is because Piper had comedian Will Sasso on doing an impression of Austin that wasn't the most flattering (Sasso joked about Austin skipping WrestleMania 31) and Austin apparently had a problem with it. Here is how Piper explained it on his podcast this week:
There was a lot of love in it , but I guess not for you. Thats my mistake then. On Monday, when the episode actually aired after 6 hours, the company had not only taken down the podcast but all of my podcasts and took me off the air because Steve, you were upset and you went and talked to them. I get a call from the guythe head of the organization and he tells me that all my podcasts have been taken down. He tells me that I cant talk about Steve Austinsaid that he was gonna fire me but changed his mind. I think about it and say you cant censor me and push me around. Im a gentlemenIm a family man. If you got offended by it then I am sorry. Im done with it, I didnt lie about anything and my hearts in the right place with my life and I got my family on my side. With that said Im moving on and Im not talking about it anymore.Piper went on to tell Austin that he respects him and that he didn't mean to do any harm. He said that he's not going to talk about it anymore. It sounds like he's pretty genuine about it and that he's upset that it took place because it wasn't done to insult Austin. He brought Sasso on to make some jokes because he's a comedian and that's what they do, but Austin took it the wrong way. Normally Austin is the kind of guy to laugh things off too, so it's a shame that it came down to this. Piper also sent out a tweet trying to put the issue to bed and wishing the best for Austin as well. https://twitter.com/R_Roddy_Piper/status/620274863542960128 Also regarding Piper, it was noted by Dave Meltzer on the weekend that he still has his WWE Legends Contract. Ric Flair said on his podcast last week that Piper had it taken away, but apparently that's not true.
