Roderick Strong Likely To Be Austin Aries' Mystery Tag Partner For NXT

These two have a bit of history together...

The second ever Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament is almost underway, and we're finding out about new entrants every day. Earlier it was announced that Austin Aries will be entering the tournament, but as of now, he's been listed with a mystery partner to join him.

PWInsider has reported that former ROH Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong is likely to be tagging with Aries. Strong signed with WWE a few months back, but we hadn't heard of any plans for him until now.

This is a pretty solid move, as the two held the ROH Tag Team Championship over a decade ago, and are still regarded as one of the best teams the company has ever seen (they held the gold for 273 days). They also tagged for a bit in TNA, when Aries went under his Austin Starr gimmick, though they achieved much less success there.

NXT needs some buzz quite badly at the moment, as viewership has taken a hit. Perhaps some lapsed fans will tune in to see the longtime friends and tag partners mix it up with some of today's best teams.
