Roman Reigns has today reached the two-year mark as a top WWE champion.

The reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion captured the first of his two titles, the Universal Championship, by dethroning Bray Wyatt at Payback on 30 August 2020. Having now spent two years with that specific strap over his shoulder and around his waist, Reigns is comfortably the longest-reigning Universal Champion of all time. The second, Brock Lesnar, held it for 503 recognised days between April 2017 and August 2018.

WrestleMania 38 saw Roman unify the Universal and WWE Titles by defeating Brock Lesnar to become the company's unified kingpin. That individual run is currently ongoing at 149 days.

Reign's next challenger, Drew McIntyre, steps up to the plate at Clash at the Castle this Saturday, 3 September. This will be WWE's first UK stadium show since SummerSlam 1992, with McIntyre effectively in the British Bulldog's slot, playing the role of homecoming king.
