What a year it was...

As of this writing, it is uncertain whether or not Ronda Rousey will return to WWE. There are a lot of conflicting reports floating around, with some saying that she'd grown weary of the intense WWE schedule, while others state that she loves working for WWE and that she's just taking a sabbatical to start a family with her husband, Travis Browne.

But if WrestleMania 35 was truly the last time we'll see Ronda Rousey in a WWE ring, it's been one hell of a ride.

One of WWE's biggest-ever signings, thanks to her achievements in shoot-fighting and her subsequent mainstream popularity, Rousey was a better wrestler than anyone could have possibly expected her to be upon her debut at WrestleMania 34. And she only continued to improve as time went on, both in the ring and on the microphone.

Of course, as fate would have it, many fans soured on Rousey, calling her a "failed UFC fighter" who "didn't pay her dues to earn her position". While those fans have a point, what they fail to recognize is that she did pay her dues; just not in a pro-wrestling ring. I mean, does anyone honestly think that someone like Bayley would stand a chance against Rousey in a real fight?

They'd better not.

But regardless of your feelings on Ronda Rousey, it's hard to deny that she had quite possibly the greatest rookie year in pro-wrestling history.

So, let's examine all of her marquee matches from her first (and perhaps only) year...

11. vs. Ruby Riott, Elimination Chamber '19

One minute, 40 seconds. That's all it took Ronda Rousey to defeat Ruby Riott at Elimination Chamber 2019.

Going into the match, fans knew that Ruby's chances of winning were slim to none. After all, WWE had already started aggressively promoting Rousey's match with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35. Hell, they barely even mentioned Riott's upcoming title shot on the RAW before the PPV.

But no one expected their match to be this short.

Riott was made to look like an absolute chump in this match; when she wasn't avoiding Rousey's offence, she was getting beaten up. Needless to say, she didn't fare very well against the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion. To be fair, the win did a lot for Rousey's credibility heading into WrestleMania, but this match was nothing more than filler.

Strangely enough, however, they had the two of them go at it again the next night on RAW, and it was actually a competitive match. Why not just have them do that on PPV?

Ruby deserved better than this.
