Carlito could be on the verge of returning to WWE full-time after seemingly pulling out of an independent date, informing the promoter that he was heading back to the market leaders.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Carlito had been booked for a Great North Wrestling show on 15 July, but informed promoter Devon Nicholson that he couldn't compete, as he is heading back to WWE.

Nothing has been made official regarding Carlito's WWE future yet. Nonetheless, the Puerto Rican has kept his options open since making a one-off appearance at Backlash 2023 last month, where he drew a monstrous pop on home turf.

Carlito's Backlash run-in was his first WWE showing since January 2021, when he was a surprise Royal Rumble entrant. At Backlash, he interfered in Bad Bunny's Street Fight with Damian Priest, assisting the Latino World Order in a brawl with The Judgment Day.

13 years have passed since Carlito was last under a full-time WWE contract, with the promotion letting him go in 2010. Prior to this, he had been a fixture on the company's midcard scene, capturing the United States, Intercontinental, and Tag Team Titles.
