Sami Zayn reckons his WrestleMania 38 match with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville was a "lightbulb moment" for his WWE career.

Zayn told Corey Graves on the announcer's 'After The Bell' podcast that the Knoxville feud got him "so addicted to transitioning from good match guy to storytelling guy". The SmackDown heel realised that he could focus more on characterisation than spots during his story with the actor, and JK's uniqueness as a celebrity helped with that process.

Together, the pair concocted one of the most ludicrously entertaining 'Mania matches ever, and it isn't one Sami will forget any time soon. In fact, as he told Graves, Zayn wants to "do more" of that sort of thing in the future if WWE top brass will let him.

He added that it "remains to be seen" how much the company will green light, but that "the creative way we can go about telling stories and getting character stuff over and doing things that we don’t always do" is really appealing to him.

Zayn wants to keep drumming up ways to set himself apart from everybody else on the roster.
