Shane McMahon No Longer Under WWE Contract? WWE Dispute Claims...
A major update on Shane McMahon's WWE status following departure rumours.
Shane McMahon's WWE status was cast into doubt last night, as both Fightful and Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri had learned that the former executive was no longer with the promotion.
Fightful have since been told, however, that this isn't the case. Upon inquiring with the promotion, the outlet was told that the 51-year-old was still a contracted talent.
Despite this, Shane is rarely, if ever, at WWE's offices these days.
McMahon has appeared only intermittently for WWE over the past few years. He became more of a regular televised performer after returning ahead of WrestleMania 32 in February 2016, helping spark interest for the flagging pay-per-view with his Undertaker feud, but had dialled back on his schedule by 2019 and embarked on a 10-month break that October.
Shane made a handful of appearances throughout 2020 before jumping into a program with Braun Strowman this past February, leading to Strowman besting him in a WrestleMania 37 cage match. He hasn't appeared since then.
August saw McMahon become Executive Chairman of Ideanomics, which likely ensures he is kept busy away from the squared circle. He is still listed as part of the active Raw roster on WWE.com.
