Shane McMahon Was At MSG For John Cena's Final Raw (WWE News)
Will this lead to an onscreen WWE appearance for Shane McMahon? Watch this space.
Shane McMahon alerted fans via X that he was actually in the house to take in John Cena's final Raw ever during Monday's flagship. Oh yes, the 'Boy Wonder' attended Madison Square Garden just to see Cena take his bow on WWE's most important weekly. He said it was "so good to be back home".
McMahon probably meant "home" as the Garden and WWE as a whole.
Of course, his father Vince and grandfather Vincent J booked MSG as a WWF/WWE hotbed for decades. Shane has likely spent many happy times in the historic venue as a child, teenager and performer. In fact, as The Wrestling Observer pointed out during their write up about McMahon's attendance, he once wrestled Chad Gable in the venue back in 2019.
That was a dark year for WWE creatively, but it must've been a personal thrill for Shane to put on his working erm...sneakers and put in a shift for the New York faithful. He'd have attended countless Garden cards over the years, so he would've been buzzing to wrestle on a show in the building himself.
On Raw, Cena announced that he'll be defending his Intercontinental Title vs. Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series on 29 November. He also teamed with Rey Mysterio and Sheamus to beat 'Dirty Dom', Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh in a 6-man tag bout.
Shane Hasn't Appeared For WWE Since Ill-Fated WrestleMania 39 Match
Shane probably wants everybody to forget his last major onscreen WWE appearance. He showed up as a surprise impromptu opponent for The Miz at WrestleMania 39 in 2023, but the situation quickly turned sour when McMahon shredded his legs during a routine leapfrog spot.
He was eventually replaced in the match by Snoop Dogg, which honestly sounds like the answer to a trick WWE trivia question. It happened though - bosses weren't left with many choices once Shane went down with knackered pins and had to be helped away from ringside.
Triple H didn't give Shane the chance to put that right during Monday's Raw, but The Observer noted that he was in attendance for the show alongside his sister Stephanie and one of his sons. WWE didn't show any of this on camera.
