Shane McMahon's Injury At WWE Survivor Series 2016 Was Legit

Luckily Orton was there to inform his family.

Last night's over 50 minute Survivor Series men's match was an entertaining and chaotic bout. One moment that stood out was Shane McMahon appearing to be injured late in the match. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, he wasn't just selling, as he really was badly hurt.

The spot in question saw Shane go for his Coast-to Coast-move, but Roman reversed it into a spear. That was the planned finish for Shane, but when the ref saw that Shane was actually hurt, he stopped to attend to him.

That was a scary moment, and it could have gone a lot worse for both men. The timing for the move to work needed to be perfect, and they were just a touch off. Luckily Shane was telling people backstage later on that he was feeling fine.

Also of note is that after the injury went down, Orton broke character and informed Shane's kids that his dad was okay. While that's a sweet gesture...call me old fashioned, but couldn't any personnel not in the match have done that? I guess I've never seen my dad botch a Coast to Coast (besides Thanksgiving last year), so I don't know the right answer.

Well, hopefully this gives Shane a bit of pause before trying something crazy again. At 46 years old, his body obviously isn't as athletic as it used to be. That likely won't stop him from battling Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania...but now that Lesnar can be so easily defeated who knows what any of this means anymore!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW.
