Shawn Michaels Q&A: 10 Things We Learned

7. Being A Singles Wrestler, Working With Sensational Sherri & 'Sexy Boy'

Shawn was asked about the beginning of his singles career, how influential Sensational Sherri was, as well as his feelings about his 'Sexy Boy' theme music. Shawn told the story of how he and Marty Jannetty (not seriously) threatened to quit WWE because they were getting paid half the amount that others were to appear on a cereal box. Vince called, saying it was a shame they were leaving, because he thought that Shawn would be great in singles. One pane of broken glass later, Shawn had broken out on his own. In regards to Sensational Sherri, Shawn was initially reticent about teaming up with her, because he wanted to stand out in his own right. Eventually he realised that Sherri could do good things for him, because she'd only previously managed top guys, naming Randy Savage & Ted DiBiase specifically. He had nothing but good things to say about Sherri, and cracked a smile and raised a few laughs when he talked about how if anyone wasn't behaving in the ring, he'd throw them out to Sherri. She'd slap, scratch and kick them, and then afterwards they were a lot happier to be in the ring with Shawn. Shawn was also skeptical about his 'Sexy Boy' theme tune at first, but decided it'd better if he embraced it and ran with it. The audience tried to get him to sing a rendition of it, but Shawn politely declined.
