Shelton Benjamin To Be Sidelined For Months - WWE Return In Doubt?

Serious torn rotator cuff injury will keep the Gold Standard away from the ring.

Disappointing news, as Shelton Benjamin has announced on Twitter that he will not be returning to WWE anytime soon. After undergoing medical tests, it was discovered he has a torn rotator cuff, which will likely keep him on the sidelines for months.

This is really bad timing for the former WWE Intercontinental Champion. After being out of WWE for over six years, graphics were recently shown on-air hyping his impending arrival to WWE SmackDown's new brand. That return will have to wait quite some time.

While Rhyno and Jinder Mahal have both recently come back to the company, Benjamin was perhaps the most exciting name returning. He was underutilized throughout his career, and was always great in the ring. Another run in the company was a potential feel-good story.

I saw Shelton less than a month ago in the ring at an indy show and he looked to be in incredible shape. He doesn't seem to have aged one bit. Hopefully when he is healed up, WWE will have no problem bringing him back to set a new standard on SmackDown.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW.
