On the flip side, if TJ loses to DJ, would he even consider fighting at flyweight again? It's extremely doubtful. He's likely back to bantamweight, never to be seen again at 125. On paper it can look like a very selfish move from Dillashaw. Only fighting at flyweight because he wants the belt, and then disappearing when it doesn't work out.
While Johnson shouldn’t have 100% say over who he fights, is it unreasonable to turn down a fight against a guy who’s never fought in your division? Probably not. Johnson has invited Dillashaw to come down, win a fight, and get in line. Whether you agree or not, you can see his point. DJ sees flyweight at his baby, he wants to protect it. Being the only flyweight champion in the promotion's history, he wants what's best for the division, and he wants TJ to want it as much as he does. Johnson believes Dillashaw is coming down on a whim because Cody Gardbrandt is injured. It's very reasonable and logical when you break it down.
