Should Demetrious Johnson Fight TJ Dillashaw

4. No – This Could Potentially Tie Up Two Divisions

When Cody Garbrandt returns from his back injury, his first bantamweight title defence will be against TJ Dillashaw. They filmed a whole series of The Ultimate Fighter with Garbrandt and Dillashaw as the coaches to build to this fight, and the beef is there for all to see.

If Dillashaw was to come down and win the flyweight title, it's champion versus champion, and it makes the fight just that little bit better. Great, right? TJ beats Cody and he's a two weight world champion. What's not to love?

Dillashaw was bantamweight champion for 20 months. He made three title defences. It isn't exactly a guarantee that he'll be active enough to keep both divisions rolling at once. Sure, this is a moot point if TJ loses one, if not both, of his title challenges, but shouldn't you prepare for all possible scenarios? UFC could potentially book themselves into the corner of essentially having a division on hold if Dillashaw went on a winning run.
