Not even a surprise Fiend appearance could stop the blue show from slipping.

This week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX suffered a slight overnight ratings drop, according to Showbuzz Daily.

The blue show managed to bring in 1.892 million viewers on average which was a drop of 1.7% from last week's edition. However, SmackDown still managed to score a 0.5 in the ever important 18-49 demographic and this was tied for number one on the night with Shark Tank.

Those who did tune in to the latest episode of the blue brand were treated to an excellent Intercontinental Championship encounter which saw Champion AJ Styles successfully defend against Gran Metalik. Elsewhere on the show, SmackDown Women's and Women's Tag Team Champion defeated Nikki Cross in a title match, 'King' Baron Corbin got the better of Drew Gulak, Naomi won in her bout with Lacey Evans and Sonya Deville viciously attacked Mandy Rose with a pair of scissors.

However, the biggest talking point coming out of SmackDown was the return of Bray Wyatt's Fiend. Arriving after Cross had left her pal Alexa Bliss in the ring on her own post-defeat, The Fiend toyed with the former Raw and SmackDown Women's Champion before giving her a mandible claw as the show went off the air.

Will this disturbing cliffhanger tempt more people into switching on SmackDown next week?
