Spike TV Wanted To Buy TNA, Dixie Carter Declined

Dixie Carter may have driven the stake into the heart of TNA.

Impact Wrestling Spike Tv After week's of rumors and controversy, new details and rumours have emerged as to what caused Spike TV to not renew TNA Impact. WrestleZone's Justin Labar is reporting that not only did Spike TV initially want to renew TNA Impact, but Spike TV actually wanted to purchase a portion of TNA, and move forward as share owners of the business. Dixie Carter declined this offer, and likely caused the end of their working relationship together. A similar situation was presented to the Carter family last year, when country music star Toby Keith and Jeff Jarrett made an offer to buy TNA Wrestling. The Carter family wanted Dixie to remain in her current role in the company, a stipulation in which killed the deal, causing Keith and Jarrett to decline. Reports that Spike TV was unhappy with TNA secretly employing Vince Russo have added fuel to the fire, possibly causing further dissent between the two sides. Russo said this week that he started working with TNA again last October, before being fired last week. TNA was telling talent as of this week that negotiations with Spike were ongoing, and people within the company have told us personally that networks have shown interest. It's unknown as to whether or not those networks would be able to provide TNA with the type of deal it would need to survive, however.
