Sting Explains Why He Signed With AEW

The Stinger explained his reasons on last night's Holiday Bash episode of Dynamite.

Much like these past few weeks, last night’s Holiday Bash edition of AEW Dynamite saw Sting again interviewed in-ring by Tony Schiavone – and finally we heard why the Stinger had opted to sign with All Elite Wrestling.

When asked about why AEW, Sting cited Dusty Rhodes as being a large part of his reasoning.

As Sting explained, complete with a Dusty impression, the American Dream decided that he’d give the Stinger his big break by giving him a more vibrant, colourful look and pairing him up in main events with Ric Flair.

From there, the multiple-time World Champion and WWE Hall of Famer went on:

“You fast-forward all these years later. When I see Cody in the ring, Dusty’s offspring, I guess I couldn’t stay away. I had to be a part of AEW and what Cody was doing right here, leading the charge. I want to be a part of it.”

Sting would then start to address Darby Allin before being rudely interrupted by Team Taz, with Taz labelling Schiavone a jabroni and then saying how he’s sick of all of this sh*t. As always, it’s good to see that not even the holidays can change the Human Suplex Machine’s demeanour. Never change, Taz. Never change.

While Sting only got a couple of minutes to talk here, seeing someone like Darby alongside Sting, and someone like Ricky Starks throwing verbal shots the Stinger’s way, that gives an added level of credibility and legitimacy to both of those guys.
