Sting Signs WWE Contract

Sting Wwe Wrestling Observer reports that Sting has now signed a contract with WWE, finally ending the moniker of him being the biggest name in wrestling history that has never worked for the company. At this time there are no details regarding his specific role in WWE and there's no announcement regarding his TV debut. And nothing official has been released by WWE. Perhaps it's a case of WWE wanting to keep the big news close to the vest, so to speak. They don't want fans to know when it's coming because it might be later this year or even early next year so that it's close to WrestleMania. Maybe they just want it to be a surprise and for fans to think that the Stinger could show up at any time. Reports indicate that the deal has been close to being done for a while, but now it's been signed and is official. Sting's assumption was that he would work with The Undertaker, which many expected, but that's up in the air with Undertaker's future now in question. Sting is 56 years old and he wouldn't come in to WWE as a full time wrestler. However, he has been in good enough shape in recent years to wrestle, so it's likely that he'll have at least one match in WWE if not more. A role that Sting could fill in WWE without wrestling would be that of an on screen GM. Currently, Brad Maddox is the GM on Raw although it's not like he plays a major role. If they put Sting in that position, the GM would be featured a lot more and have credibility because Sting's a legend unlike Maddox. He would bring credibility to the role immediately. Regarding a possible match with The Undertaker, that was a rumor from a few years back and while it may have had appeal then, it's definitely less appealing now. If Undertaker was undefeated at WrestleMania still, perhaps it would be intriguing to some, but the age of both guys makes it less interesting. It could still happen as a battle of wrestling legends, but would it be good? Hard to know. Now that Sting is officially a part of WWE, it will be interesting to see how he is brought in, who he might wrestle against and what kind of reception he receives upon his arrival in a foreign land.
